The sightings and timings of Sasan Gir are based on three seasons- Winter, summer, and rainy

  • The winter season is from November to February.
  • The summer season is from March to May.
  • The rainy season is from June to October.

Winter season ( from November to February)

Weather conditions:  This is the most pleasant weather to visit Sasan Gir or Devalia Safari Park. During this time the weather is neither too hot nor too cold and you can stay comfortably in any accommodation around Gir. With dense forest, the landscape is good during this time and the weather is also pleasant. The temperature is between 10 degrees to 22 degrees.

Sightings:  During this season wildlife sightings are not a lot, but you can see them if they come out to the sun during the day. If you are a bird watcher and you are coming here to see and capture some beautiful residents and migratory birds then this is the best time as from November to February a lot of migratory birds visit Gir National Park.

Summer season ( from March to May)

Weather conditions:  This is the time when the weather is harsh, this is not an ideal season for those who don't like hot and sticky weather. This is the hottest time of the year with temperatures between 28 °C to 42 °C. It's hot during the day, but you can ride on your safaris in the early morning and evening. You must keep water bottles and sunscreen for safari rides during this time.

Sightings:  This is the best time for wildlife sightings as animals come out to find water. This is the hottest time of the year, but you can spot various animals as they come near water bodies to drink water. Many resident birds also gather around water resources, but it is not a good time to spot migratory birds.

Rainy Season (from June to October)

Weather conditions:  The park is lush green, and offers a harmonious blend of dense forests, rivers, grasslands, hills, and water bodies. The park is closed during the monsoon season due to heavy rains and the risk of flooding.

Sightings:  It's not a good time to visit as safaris are not conducted. However, the park reopens and safaris start on the 16th of October.
